Freeze updates timeframe for Horatio Fields to return

Auburn wide receiver Horatio Fields went down with a broken foot in practice two weeks ago. Head coach Hugh Freeze provided an update Monday on where things sit in his recovery.
“I was told six to eight weeks on him,” Freeze said. “So I guess we’re on like week two now maybe. So I never know exactly what that means.”
Once Fields is cleared to return to practice, there could be more time missed.
“You’ve got that timeframe and then the timeframe after that for him to actually get back going and feel good enough to cut and play at receiver,” Freeze said. “If you’re an offensive lineman it might be a little quicker to — but when you’re running and have to make cuts, you’re never quite sure exactly what that timeline looks like.”

Auburn’s dealt with some other minor injuries through five games. Multiple starters and key contributors missed games, but Freeze expects his team to be healthy when it plays Georgia.
“Other than Fields, I feel good at this point that everybody else is available,” Freeze said.
The initial SEC student athlete availability report will release Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7:10 p.m. CST.
