Gators RB target Kewan Lacy de-commits from Nebraska

Kewan Lacy, a 4-star Florida Gators running back target from Lancaster, Texas, de-committed from Nebraska on Thursday.
Lacy posted the following message on X, the app formerly known as Twitter: “Dear Husker nation I want to thank you for the support and the opportunity to come play the sport I love at the university of nebraska and thank you to all the coaches for recruiting me and showing love with that being said I am decommitting and my recruitment is 100% open”
Florida offered Lacy on Oct. 5. Lacy said a few days ago most of his conversations have been with Gators running backs coach Jabbar Juluke. Juluke’s message to him?
“(They) know they’re late but they still want me,” Lacy said.
Lacy told On3 earlier this week he is considering official visits to Florida, Ole Miss and Alabama.
“I really don’t know yet, I’m just letting everything play out,” Kewan Lacy said. “I haven’t made any decision or anything. I’ll make that decision soon. I’ll probably have it decided by next week if I want to take them or not.”

He added, “I watched one (Gators) game, but I haven’t watched too much. They throw the ball a lot.”
Now that he is uncommitted, Lacy is likely to visit some schools. And Florida could be one of them.
“They’re trying to get me down there for a visit,” Lacy told On3’s Gerry Hamilton. “A game-day visit.”
Lacy, listed at 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, is the No. 13 running back in the country for On3 and checks in as the No. 166 overall recruit.
Florida’s lone running back pledge right now is 4-star recruit Kahnen Daniels of Mississippi.
The Gators officially offered Arkansas commit Jadan Baugh of Georgia the first week of August and he visited them earlier this year. Florida continues to recruit him and plans to visit the Gators on Nov. 4 for their game against the Razorbacks.
Meanwhile, the Gators also continue to recruit Texas commit Jerrick Gibson of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG, a Gainesville native and former Florida commit. He isn’t the only one-time Gators pledge they’re talking to; per the prospect’s coach, communication also continues with former commit Chauncey Bowens. He’s now a Georgia verbal.
