Florida State’s Jared Verse and James Rosenberry Jr. were named first-team All-Americans by the American Football Coaches Association Thursday.

Verse, a redshirt junior defensive end from Dayton, Ohio, had 41 tackles in 2023, with 12.5 for loss and a team-high 9.0 sacks. He added three pass breakups, 11 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and a blocked extra point.

Verse had a career-high 2.5 sacks and a season-high 3.0 tackles for loss in Florida State’s 24-15 win at Florida to earn ACC Player of the Week honors. He followed that up with 2.0 sacks and 3.0 tackles for loss in the Seminoles’ 16-6 win over No. 14 Louisville in the ACC Championship Game.

Verse recovered a fumble against Syracuse, forced a fumble against the Gators and blocked an extra point against North Alabama. He had at least 2.0 sacks four times this year.

Rosenberry, a redshirt senior from Delaware, Ohio, has been Florida State’s primary long snapper on field goals, extra points and punts for the last three seasons, playing in all 38 games since 2021. Rosenberry did not have an errant snap this year.

Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald connected on 18 of 20 field goal attempts and all 58 point-after tries and was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award. Punter Alex Mastromanno was 19th nationally and third in the ACC with a 45.3 average and FSU ranked fifth nationally with a 43.2 net average on the season. Mastromanno was one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award and is a second-team All-American from The Sporting News and CBS Sports.

Verse was previously named a second-team All-American from ESPN, The Athletic, Associated Press and USA Today, was a first-team All-ACC selection and a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award and Lott IMPACT Trophy. Rosenberry was on the watch list for the Patrick Mannelly Award.

Undefeated No. 4 Florida State (13-0) will face No. 6 Georgia (12-1) in the Capital One Orange Bowl on December 30, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
