The Reese’s Senior Bowl is often a proving ground for NFL Draft prospects and Georgia safety Javon Bullard has used it to his advantage. After a stellar week of practice that included big-time run fits and pass breakups, Bullard has been named the top safety. The honor is a product of a vote taken amongst the receivers and running backs in Mobile.

Bullard was a two-year starter at Georgia and forewent his final year of eligibility to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. He served as the Bulldogs’ starting STAR/Safety in 2022, tallying 46 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions.

One of those sacks came in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl win over Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinal, helping him earn defensive MVP of that contest. He also delivered a big hit on star Buckeye wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. in that game that broke up a would-be touchdown. It was originally ruled as targeting but, after review, it was deemed a clean hit and Ohio State was forced to kick a field goal. Bullard tallied both interceptions in the next time out against TCU in the National Championship game, again earning defensive MVP honors.

The Milledgeville, Ga. native was moved to safety for his junior season and started 13 games. He missed two with an ankle sprain but still racked up 56 total tackles, one tackle for loss, a pair of interceptions and five pass breakups.

The Bulldogs found a diamond in the rough in Bullard. He was a lightly recruited prospect in the 2021 class, ending the cycle with a three-star rating. He was ranked as the nation’s No. 526 overall prospect by the On3 Industry Ranking. He was also the nation’s No. 44 cornerback and the No. 46 prospect in the Peach State.

Bullard measured in just north of 5-foot-10 at the Senior Bowl. Most early projections have him as a potential day two selection, likely in the third round.
