Georgia has yet another cornerback in the NFL. Kamari Lassiter was picked by the Houston Texans with the 42nd overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday night, making it four straight drafts where a Bulldog cornerback has been picked in the NFL Draft.

Lassiter joins the likes of Eric Stokes, Tyson Campbell, Derrion Kendrick, and Kelee Ringo as Georgia cornerbacks to be selected in the NFL Draft since 2021. He served as a three-year starter in Athens, starting 29 straight games to end his Bulldog career. Georgia won 28 of those games.

Originally from Savannah, Ga., Lassiter finished his high school career in Tuscaloosa, Ala. at American Christian School. Georgia won a hard-fought battle with Clemson for his signature and he finished the cycle rated as a four-star prospect according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He was the nation’s No. 232 overall prospect and the No. 21 cornerback. Lassiter was also the No. 7 player in the Yellow Hammer State.

Lassiter piled up 12 pass breakups in his Georgia career but just one interception. That one pick was in mop-up duty as true freshman in 2021. He also had 86 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and one total sack in his three years at Georgia.

After making his way to UGA in the summer of 2021, Lassiter almost began generating buzz almost immediately. Despite arriving later than other defensive backs in the class, Lassiter impressed enough that he was high on the depth chart in his first season.

He won the starting cornerback job opposite of Ringo in 2022 and never looked back, becoming one of the Bulldogs’ most consistent defenders over the past two seasons. Lassiter did not run the 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine but he did run at Georgia’s Pro Day in March.

Lassiter is the fourth Georgia player to be taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, joining teammates Brock Bowers (Las Vegas Raiders), Amarius Mims (Cincinnati Bengals) and Ladd McConkey (Los Angeles Chargers). Second and third round coverage continues on ABC, ESPN2 and NFL Network.
