Noah Daniel headed to Iowa
Fort Dodge safety Noah Daniel has had a change of plans. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound Daniel verbally committed to FCS powerhouse South Dakota State early on in the recruiting process, but a new preferred walk-on opportunity from the Iowa Hawkeyes this week caused him to re-evaluate his college decision.
“Ever since I was a kid, I grew up watching Iowa football on TV and it’s always been a dream of mine to play there,” Daniel told HawkeyeReport.com. “When the coaches gave me a shot to play there, it was something that I couldn’t turn down growing up in Iowa.”

This spring, Daniel qualified for state track in two events with season bests of 10.73 in the 100-meter dash and 22.01 in the 200-meter dash. He used that speed last fall to rack up 56.5 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception for Fort Dodge. Daniel also showed impressive playmaking ability on special teams with 591 return yards and three touchdowns as a junior.
During the recruiting process, Daniel earned scholarship offers from South Dakota State, South Dakota, Central Michigan, North Dakota, North Dakota State, and Northern Iowa, but now he is headed to Iowa City to chase his dream of playing for the Hawkeyes.
“It feels really good,” said Daniel. “I’m really happy with my decision and ready to prove myself.”
