Most of the attention during official visit season was placed on the uncommitted prospects and those that Kansas Sate was still targeting and hopeful to land. But those already committed to K-State also got a chance to be wine and dined by the staff in the Manhattan.

They were also able to do some recruiting of their own. Mill Valley offensive lineman Lamarcus Barber did so when he was on campus June 12. But it was also time for him to become more comfortable with the coaches that will now be partly responsible for his career.

“It was good,” he said. “I got to meet some of the players and got to talk to the coaches. It was fun, I had a good time.”

A few moments on his official visit stood out to the Kansas State commit.

“Meeting all of the players and getting to talk to the coaches was my favorite part,” Barber reiterated.

Most of the players he met while in Manhattan were K-State offensive linemen and they left a strong impression on him.

“I talked to them after they had their workouts,” Barber noted. “But they are chill and they work hard when they need to work hard.”

Kansas State true freshman offensive lineman Dylan Villarouel was the host for the Mill Valley product. The two really hit it off during his time in The Little Apple.

“He was chill and a very good guy,” Barber pointed out.

Barber was also able to be around his future offensive line coach Brian Lepak for an extended period of time. The two have a great relationship since he moved from tight ends coach to in charge of the offensive line room at K-State.

“It was good,” Barber explained. “I a learned a lot. Lepak taught me offensive line things like who to ID (identify) and stuff like that. A lot of the things Lepak told me and what OC (offensive coordinator) Matt Wells told me were to keep my dreams big and memories little.”

There was no difference in feeling with Barber being at Kansas State for the first time since committing in April.

“Nothing really changed,” he shared. “I feel like because when I got there they said they wanted me and it’s the same after I committed. “They wanted me there.”
