RB HD Davis discusses Kansas State commitment

Kansas State struck eight times on the recruiting trail last week with seven commitments coming in four days. All of them were a result of official visits spanning from June 12-16. One of those pledges came from Wolfe City, Texas running back HD Davis.
The Lone Star State product made the call for K-State June 17.
“I just liked the area and the coaches and it just felt right,” Davis said. “One thing I was looking at during the commitment process was a great staff and that’s what I felt from the K-State coaches.”
The moment he told the Kansas State staff he was committing was a special moment for the three-star standout.
“It was a very good feeling and just an exciting moment,” Davis shared. “All the coaches were excited and very energetic.”
Davis’ time in Manhattan hit all the right buttons for him.
“It was fun,” he acknowledged. “I had a great time. I think the best part was getting to meet all of the staff and the players.”
His visit was the second time he has been to Manhattan. The first came on a spring visit where he got to see a a K-State spring practice. Davis was able to get a better understanding of all the inner workings on his second trip.

“I learned about all of the recovery that they do and how they take player health and safety serious,” he pointed out.
He was also able to be around his position coach Brian Anderson for an extended period of time on the official visit, and the two connected much further. They discussed what his usage could look like at Kansas State.
“It was fun,” Davis explained. “He’s a good guy and I enjoyed hanging out with him. I think that I will mainly be at running back while the other running back commit (Tanner West) is more of a slot receiver and running back (all-purpose back).”
The K-State class has grown substantially this month. All of the commits are starting to talk to each other more through social media. Davis has begun to get to know a lot of them.
“It was cool getting to talk to them and to know that we’ll be teammates next year,” he concluded.
