Good morning, folks! We’re starting the Sunday conversation with what’s happening over in Switzerland.

Kentucky men’s basketball freshman guard Jasper Johnson and Team USA put together an 88-73 victory over Australia on Saturday to open pool play at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup. The Americans have two more group stage games left before hopefully advancing to the knockout portion of the event. Spoiler: they will.

Coming off the bench against Australia, Johnson finished with six points, one assist, and one steal in 15 minutes of action. He shot 2-6 from the field and made his only free throw attempt, which came off a completed four-point play after he was fouled on a three-pointer. AJ Dybantsa (BYU) led Team USA with 18 points while Koa Peat (Arizona) wasn’t far behind with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Other Kentucky targets also received some clock, but very little of it. Five-star wing Tyran Stokes posted six points in three minutes while five-star guard Caleb Holt failed to score in his six minutes of action. Five-star guard Jordan Smith Jr. was the best high schooler of the bunch on Saturday with his eight points and four rebounds in 25 minutes as a starter.

Team USA will be back in action this afternoon against a very talented France team. Tip in Switzerland is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on FIBA’s YouTube Channel. If you want someone to watch the game with, hop over to KSBoard — we’ll be discussing all of the action together as one big happy family.

Another football commit incoming?

Kentucky football has been on a recruiting hot streak this month. All 12 of the Wildcats’ class of 2026 commits have popped in June. We could see a 13th join the club by the end of the day. Three-star DL Garrett Witherington is expected to make his college decision today, with the finalists down to Kentucky and Mississippi State.

Witherington recently took official visits to Stanford, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, and UK. A 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive lineman from Birmingham (AL) Briarwood Christian, On3 ranks him as the No. 976 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle.

Below is Kentucky’s 2026 recruiting class as of Sunday morning. Another three-star addition could be on the way. Don’t let Mark Stoops get motivated.

Vince Marrow and the Crafts back together

Vince Marrow might be a Cardinal now, but he’s still friends with UK boosters Joe and Kelly Craft. It still feels weird.

Someone driving a General Lee jumped the fountain in Somerset

Why, you might ask? Why not, I would respond! The jump drew an impressive crowd at Somerset’s town square fountain. But I’m even more impressed that the driver was able to successfully pull it off — even if the landing was a bit wobbly.

Jaxson Robinson is still available

Koby Brea and Amari Williams were drafted in the second round, not long before Lamont Butler and Andrew Carr were picked up as undrafted free agents. But former Kentucky guard Jaxson Robinson remains on the open market now three days after the conclusion of the 2025 NBA Draft.

Had it not been for Robinson’s late-season wrist injury, which ultimately required surgery in early March and knocked him out of the remainder of the 2024-25 season, he likely would have heard his name called on Thursday night. Robinson wasn’t even cleared for contact until a few weeks ago. He missed the vast majority of the pre-draft process, and that could be what has him still searching for a new home.

Robinson isn’t alone as the only player in draft range still looking for a contract, but it certainly feels strange that he hasn’t been locked into one yet. Hopefully, that changes soon.
