Good morning, Kentucky Sports Radio readers. Today is a big day for the future of Kentucky Basketball as one of John Calipari’s top targets, Boogie Fland, is set to announce his college decision. Fland is down to Kentucky, Indiana, and Alabama.

Meanwhile, the current Kentucky Wildcats are preparing to play in front of the Big Blue Nation tomorrow in Northern Kentucky during Kentucky Football‘s off-weekend. We have several other matters to discuss, too.

But first, Eckrich is still taking your teacher nominations for a bit longer…

Eckrich is proud to present the $1 Million Challenge for Teachers! This 2023 college football season Eckrich, in partnership with Extra Yard for Teachers and Kroger, will invite a local teacher (and true hero) onto the field at the Kentucky vs. Alabama game on November 11th

The selected teacher, randomly selected from a list of nominations, will have a chance to throw a football through a target to win up to $1 million dollars in donations to fund local classroom projects and resources in their school and community. Nominate a teacher here for a chance to throw! Make sure to nominate your teacher by October 26th

Boogie Fland to announce at 2 p.m.

Today’s biggest talking point is the upcoming announcement by Boogie Fland, the four-star guard set to commit to the Cats, Hoosiers, or Crimson Tide later today. Fland has a ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. at his New York high school. Kentucky is confident in the final hour, but nothing is completely off the table.

It helps that scoop-breaker Trilly Donovan believes the pick is Kentucky.

We’re feeling good around KSR HQ, too. Fland has said in the past that he likes Kentucky because “Coach Cal has a really long track record with point guards, especially developing them. He has a track record of getting his guys to the next level and then getting them to their second contract. That’s really big with me and what stood out with them.”

Come back at 2:00 for Fland’s pick.

Karter Knox down to four teams

In other basketball recruiting news, another Kentucky target, five-star Karter Knox, included the Wildcats among his top four teams. The younger brother of Kevin Knox is also considering Louisville, South Florida, and the G-League Ignite.

Drake gifted the team with new Nike NOCTA glides

To get the current Wildcats ready for their new season, Drake sent over pairs of his new Kentucky edition Nike NOCTA Glide PE. The sneakers were teased on Instagram earlier in the summer, and the delivery was made this week with a new pair for each player on the team.

Earlier this week, John Calipari was at SEC Media Day in Birmingham with two of his players, Tre Mitchell and Antonio Reeves, to discuss the upcoming season and the state of the Wildcats. KSR was there, too (shout-out Zack Geoghegan for making the trip) and you can catch up on all of KSR’s stories from those conversations below:
