2024 Loganville (Ga.) Grayson defensive back Zion Ferguson committed to LSU on Sunday, he announced. He’s the fifth commitment in the 2024 recruiting class for Brian Kelly’s program.

Ferguson chose the Tigers over offers from Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Michigan, South Carolina and numerous others.

The Tigers already have pledges from two of Ferguson’s high school teammates in Joseph Stone and Michael Daugherty. Stone and Daugherty have done their share of selling the Tigers to Ferguson since they committed.

“You know Jojo (Stone), he’s always trying to recruit somebody to come to hop on his bandwagon, so he’s been talking to me about LSU, Michael as well,” Zion Ferguson said with a laugh. “They’re definitely making a big push.”

For Ferguson, there are a few things that have pushed him toward making a decision to jump on board.

“The people and culture,” Ferguson said. “When I go on these visits, I see the hospitality that they show me and my family. The people make a big difference in where you go. If you don’t like the people, you’re not going to wake up every day and want to be there. The area is also a big thing.”

Zion Ferguson adds to LSU’s impressive 2024 class

Zion Ferguson is joined in the class by Shadow Creek (Tex.) defensive back Maurice Williams II, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson wide receiver JoJo Stone, Jonesboro-Hodge (La.) linebacker Xavier Atkins and Chillicothe (Ohio) tight end Tayvion Galloway.

Ferguson is the No. 155 overall recruit and No. 18 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Zion Ferguson currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $19.9k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
