Brian Thomas, Jr. recaps LSU Pro Day, impressive showing in front of NFL scouts

LSU offered 2025 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive back Chuck McDonald, who was in Baton Rouge for a visit on Thursday. The four-star prospect is a familiar face for secondary coach Corey Raymond.

While at Florida, Raymond offered him and made him a priority. Alabama, USC, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida State, Miami and others also offered him.

“I had some conversations with coach Raymond. He is one of the best DB coaches in the country; he gets his players to the next level. I was excited when he offered,” McDonald told On3 last year when he added his Florida offer as a sophomore. “Coach Raymond said he really liked my length and speed and also my ability to track the ball and always stay locked on my defender.”

He’s still got visits to Georgia (March 30), Oregon (April 19), and Stanford (April 11) this spring planned. He’s already taken visits to UCLA, Notre Dame (March 23) and Michigan (March 24) this year.

McDonald is the No. 131 ranked player, No. 14 cornerback, and No. 11 prospect in California for 2025, in the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Although he’s just a junior, USC currently has a huge lead for McDonald per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Trojans lead with 64.9%, UCLA at 6.9%, and Arizona is third at 5.9%.
