2024 Duncanville (Tex.) defensive lineman Alex January and his family will be busy this summer, taking four official visits in June. The four-star prospect will officially visit Miami, LSU, Florida State and Texas in that order in June on the weekends, his father Mike told On3.

Oklahoma is also in play for an official visit, which could be fit in the last weekend of July, potentially.

The Januarys visited LSU this spring and while new defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey was not hired yet, head coach Brian Kelly was there. He impressed in their conversations.

“It’s always good to be home (to his hometown of Lake Charles, La.) and get fed,” Mike January told On3. “Grandparents are still alive so you know what I’m talking about. We enjoyed the visit. I will tell you that coach Kelly was much better than I expected. Not that I expected bad, just that he was real genuine in his conversation. We enjoyed talking about the culture there.

“LSU’s got a rich tradition and to add, a rich tradition of defensive linemen. That’s appealing to me as a father. I have to trust that at this point in time that coach Kelly’s going to put somebody in place that’s going to develop my son. That’s really what it’s about. My wife wants to know about education and who’s going to feed him. From my perspective, I just want to know that he’s going to be developed properly.”

On3 ranks January as the No. 210 overall prospect in the country and No. 21 defensive lineman in the nation. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the edge to Texas, where Mike played linebacker.
