The LSU football staff has signed one of the best kickers in the 2024 recruiting class as Parkway High’s Aeron Burrell inked with the Tigers on Wednesday.

Burrell, who is ranked by On3 as the No. 2 kicker in the country, is headed to Baton Rouge after a stellar high school career in North Louisiana.

Burrell was a First-Team 5A All-State selection in 2022 and is a three-time First-Team All-District selection.

As a junior, Burrell had 51 touchbacks and converted on 12-of-14 field goal attempts.

As a senior in 2023, Burrell kicked a 55-yard field goal to set the Bossier Parish record. The 55-yard field goal broke his previous record of 53 yards set during his junior season. Burrell also punts, but is expected to be used primarily as a kicker in college.

The LSU staff offered Burrell a verbal scholarship nearly a year ago, which came soon after LSU head coach Brian Kelly named John Jancek as the team’s special teams coordinator.

The Shreveport native is also ranked by Kohl’s Kicking Academy as the No. 2 kicker in the 2024 class.

As a junior, Burrell recorded touchbacks on 51 of his 51 kickoffs. He was 8-for-10 on field goal attempts, which included a pair of 50+ yard conversions. He also hit 37 point after attempts on the year.

Burrell is the first kicker the Tigers have taken on scholarship since Nathan Dibert in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Dibert remains on LSU’s roster, and he handled kickoff duties this season as former walk-on Damian Ramos won the starting kicker job for the second season in a row. Ramos was a redshirt sophomore this past season.

Burrell is part of a 27-man commitment list that is signing with LSU on Wednesday, which is the first day of a three-day stretch during December’s Early Signing Period.
