2024 Duncanville (Texas) EDGE Colin Simmons is back at LSU for another visit to Baton Rouge, helping the Tigers build more of a lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Simmons is with his mother, Monica McCarley, for the Spring Game.

The Tigers have been a staple in his recruitment and he feels the love when he’s around Brian Kelly’s program.

“It honestly feels like Texas. The diversity there, I love it,” Simmons told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this spring. “I can be myself, I fit in, I feel good when I’m there and it feels like home.”

The No. 1 pass rusher in the country likes the SEC, which is why many of the nation’s top programs after him. Schools like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M and others are battling it out for him.

“The best of the best is in the SEC,” said Simmons, the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2024 On300. “You got Alabama, you got Georgia, you got LSU, you got Tennessee, you got all the big schools in the SEC.”

“The SEC, that’s where I’ve heard it’s at,” Simmons told On3. “The best football, I feel like, is in the SEC.”

LSU target Colin Simmons scouting report

Long-limbed EDGE prospect who stars for one of the top high school programs in Texas. Measured at around 6-foot-2.5, 225 pounds with a 34-inch arm prior to his junior season. Grew around an inch as a sophomore. Primarily lines up at defensive end for Duncanville. Uses first-step quickness, play speed and dip to create issues for opposing offensive tackles.

Shows good curvilinear movement with his ability to turn corners as a pass rusher. Length aids in disengaging from offensive linemen, finishing plays and disrupting passing lanes. Looks to play with a good effort level. Plays against top competition and made an impact on a defensive front that featured older, Power 5 prospects.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Simmons is the No. 3 overall prospect and No. 1 EDGE in the country.
