On Friday, the LSU football staff hosted the first OL/DL Camp of the summer, and multiple new offers were handed out.

Three offensive linemen were among the four scholarships the staff extended, and all three were offensive tackle prospects.

Two came from the 2025 class, while LSU dipped into the 2026 cycle with an early in-state offer to New Orleans offensive lineman Jalan Chapman.

Jalan Chapman worked his way onto college radars thanks to a freshman season this past fall that saw him win a starting job at offensive tackle. At 6-foot-4, 275 pounds, Chapman showed more than enough upside to land college football offers.

LSU and area recruiter Frank Wilson had a close eye on the New Orleans native all season, and following his showing at LSU OL/DL Camp on Friday, the freshman was pulled aside for a conversation he won’t soon forget.

“I got the offer from Coach Frank after the camp,” Chapman said. “The conversation was deep and it showed me that LSU isn’t all about football. It is about your life after football, as well.

“It was amazing. It showed I am something special and have something to bring to the table.”

Chapman the next name up for LSU at Warren Easton

For Chapman, the offer from Wilson and the Tigers holds more weight than most.

The New Orleans native has grown up not just in a state filled with LSU fans, but he’s part of a high school program in Warren Easton that has been a familiar stop on the recruiting trail for the Tigers in each recruiting cycle. LSU has a Warren Easton prospect already committed for the 2024 class in Wallace Foster.

“It makes me feel a part of an ongoing New Orleans legacy,” Chapman said.

“(The LSU offer) felt amazing. It was like all the long hours in the weight room and on the field just paid off, but that doesn’t mean it stops for me. This is just the start.”

Chapman is one of just three high school offensive linemen who picked up an LSU offer following their freshman season in 2022.
