Michigan has landed a commitment from Phoenix (Ariz.) O’Connor long snapper Colton Dermer, he announced via social media on Saturday afternoon.

Dermer committed to Michigan just a couple of days after making his first visit. Dermer camped in front of Michigan special teams coach JB Brown and the rest of the staff and earned an offer on the spot.

He picked U-M over an offer from Alabama.

“A life long dream come true,” Dermer posted on X.

Dermer is ranked as a five-star recruit and the No. 6 long snapper in the country, per Kohl’s kicking. Brown made it a point to search for a high level long snapper this offseason and sealed the deal with Dermer.

Here is what Kohl’s had to say about Dermer:

“Dermer is a prospect in the 2026 class with elite snapper talent, great size, and tremendous athleticism. He rips the cover off the ball with impressive velocity and extremely tight ball rotation. At the 2025 Kohl’s Spring Western Showcase, Dermer finished with an average snap time of .66 seconds and ran a 4.93-second 40-yard dash. He has the talent and attributes needed to be a scholarship snapper.”

Dermer works closely with specialist coach Steve Rausch, who also trains Michigan long snapper Trent Middleton. Remember, Middleton transferred from UCLA to Michigan this offseason. Middleton has three years of eligibility remaining.

Michigan recently offered TCU long snapper commit Will Terry. However, with Dermer onboard, it appears Michigan is now done recruiting the position. Dermer is expected to be the only specialist take for the Wolverines this cycle.

Michigan now has 10 commits in its 2026 recruiting class — Dermer, Top 100 Billings (Mont.) West tight end Matt Ludwig, Top 100 Newberry Park (Calif.) High quarterback Brady Smigiel, On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, On300 Chicago (Ill.) Simeon EDGE McHale Blade, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, three-star Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Tariq Boney, three-star Denver (Colo.) Mullen tight end Mason Bonner, three-star Liberty Hill (Texas) High defensive lineman Alister Vallejo, three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 15 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 5 in the Big Ten. USC currently has the top class in the conference.

Michigan also has the No. 10 ranked transfer portal class this cycle, per the On3 transfer portal index.
