Wolverine TV: Breaking down elite Michigan OL commit Ty Haywood

Michigan has landed a commitment from Top 100 2025 Denton (Texas) Ryan offensive tackle Ty Haywood.
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares his thoughts on the massive recruiting win in the video at the end of this story.
Haywood Recruitment
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome made a swing through Texas last winter and put an offer on the table for Haywood.
While Haywood expressed some initial interest, he never made it to campus and ultimately committed to Alabama over the summer.
Michigan got back in contact with Haywood this fall and made a strong NIL run. He eventually backed off his verbal pledge to Alabama last month and made an official visit to U-M. It was there where the Wolverines were able to seal the deal.
Haywood picked Michigan over fellow finalists Florida State and Texas Tech. Here is what Holland had to say about Haywood’s commitment.

“This recruiting win shows that Michigan’s NIL wasn’t just a one off with Bryce Underwood,” Holland said. “Michigan did it again with Ty Haywood, showing their commitment to spending on the recruiting trail. Michigan impressed Haywood on his official visit. But at the end of the day, this one came down to NIL, and Michigan did what it needed to do to close this one out.”
At 6-foot-5, 297 pounds, Haywood is ranked as the No. 8 offensive tackle and No. 48 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 11 overall recruit in the state of Texas this cycle.
