On3 Consensus four-star guard Judah Mintz from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., one of the premier players still available in the 2023 class, has lined up an official visit to NC State basketball in February.

Mintz originally committed to Pittsburgh before announcing on Nov. 10 his decision to re-open his recruitment.

Per Andrew Slater, Mintz will take an official visit to DePaul Feb. 8-10, and then he will be in Raleigh Feb. 17-19. NC State basketball has its lone off weekend during the ACC portion of the schedule on that weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 165-pounder, according to Slater, also has Zoom calls set up with Syracuse and Wake Forest. He had plans to officially visit Xavier for Jan. 25-27, but that was canceled after the Musketeers landed a verbal commitment in January from guard Desmond Claude. Florida has also been linked to Mintz’s recruitment.

The On3 Consensus has Mintz ranked the No. 57 overall prospect in the 2023 class and the No. 10 combo-guard nationally among seniors.

“He is the definition of a bucket-getter,” On3’s Joe Tipton noted after viewing Mintz at the NIBC in early January. “If I need a basket, I’m giving the ball to Mintz.”

Tipton has also noted that Mintz is, “a great example of a three-level scorer.”

NC State basketball recruiting announced in November that it signed a pair of prospects on the first day of the fall signing period: center Shawn Phillips from Dream City Christian in Glendale, Ariz., and guard LJ Thomas from Bull City Prep in Durham, N.C.

The 6-foot-10, 250-pound Phillips chose the Pack in September over offers from Ole Miss and West Virginia. Thomas, who checks in at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, had a final six that included an option to play for Overtime Elite in addition to Georgia, Houston, Memphis and Ole Miss before committing to the Wolfpack in October.

Phillips is playing this season at Dream City Christian after spending last year at Ypsi Prep in Ypsilanti, Mich., and before that at Belmont High School in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio, where he averaged 15 points and 13 boards as a sophomore.

Last year, Thomas averaged 18.5 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 44 percent from the field for Bull City Prep.

Before that, he played at Camp Jewell House Academy in Conyers, Ga. Thomas started his high school career at Columbia High in Decatur, Ga., where he averaged 18.0 points and 3.2 assists per game and made 42 percent of his threes in 2018-19.
