NC State basketball recruiting signees in action update
During the NC State basketball win over North Carolina on Sunday, the videoboard flashed the Wolfpack’s two-player recruiting class of point guard Trey Parker and wing Dennis Parker Jr. The two took a break in the midst of their seasons to make the trip for the game.
Trey Parker is a Fayetteville, N.C., native playing at Overtime Elite, which is a semi-pro league for high schoolers, while Dennis Parker is at John Marshall High in Richmond, Va.
Here’s an update of how the Parkers are doing this year before they make it to NC State.
Dennis Parker Jr.
Through 22 games, Parker is averaging 19.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists per game. He is shooting 56.0 percent from the field (164 of 293) while making 35 of 97 three-pointers (36.1 percent). At the free-throw line, Parker has made 71 of 110 attempts (64.5 percent).
Parker has had 11 20-plus performances with a season-high 34 points. He’s also had three double-doubles.
John Marshall is undefeated on the season.
Here’s On3’s scouting report for Dennis Parker Jr.:
Dennis Parker, Jr. has good length and a strong frame. He has a projectable frame that should add weight instantly once in a college strength program. Parker’s defensive ability intrigues. He is a good team defender with great instincts in the passing lanes. He also plays with a toughness and a competitive spirit, which nets him production on that end of the floor. The jump shot is streaky, and the release is inconsistent. He does shoot it better off the bounce with the pull-up than off the catch as a spot shooter. Parker can get downhill in the half-court, and he absorbs contact in the paint. He is a solid to an above-average athlete. A good player who can affect the game on both ends of the floor.
Trey Parker
In 14 regular season games, Parker averaged 12.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game while playing 21.1 minutes per contest. He shot 42.4 percent from the field and 33.8 percent on threes. Parker was 79.4 percent at the line.
Parker had a big performance in his playoff opener, scoring 24 points while making 7 of 17 shots, including 3 of 9 three-pointers, and going 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. He added 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.
OTE’s playoffs are best of 3, and Parker’s Cold Hearts squad will have to rebound from a loss in its first game.

Trey Parker is electric. The explosive guard plays a confident and fearless style with the ball in his hands. He’s got a crafty, but decisive handle that gets him where he wants to go on the floor. Parker can play the point in a pick-and-roll system or off the ball as a scorer. The range is deep, and his form and release stay consistent.
