NC State’s secondary took a hit on Tuesday evening. Junior cornerback Aydan White announced he was going to enter his name in the transfer portal just a day before it closes to entries.

White has been a lockdown defender for the Wolfpack in his four seasons in Raleigh. The cornerback recorded 100 tackles with 25 passes defended and 8 interceptions while in the red and white.

The Asheville, N.C., native logged a career-best 10 pass breakups this season while adding a pair of interceptions to go with 37 total tackles.

White was a 2022 first-team All-ACC selection after he had 4 interceptions and 9 pass breakups to help lead the Wolfpack’s pass defense a year ago.

White is the second defensive starter to leave the Wolfpack defense through the portal since it opened. He joins starting nose tackle C.J. Clark, who later committed to Miami.

Now, NC State has a role to fill at starting cornerback. The Wolfpack could look to the portal to replace White, who was a possible NFL Draft entrant. But instead of heading to the next level, it appears White will have a new collegiate home for the 2024 season.

White is the 24th NC State player to enter the transfer portal since the regular season concluded. Here is a full list of the Wolfpack players to depart with eligibility remaining in Raleigh.
