The Wolfpacker’s Friday morning newsstand
Isaiah Moore is back at NC State for his sixth season and ready to help lead an experienced Wolfpack defense. He spoke with the media Wednesday.
Here is an excerpt from The Wolfpacker’s story ‘NC State LB Isaiah Moore at ‘100 percent’ with ECU on the horizon.’
NC State star linebacker Isaiah Moore is in the middle of his sixth fall camp. From All-ACC seasons to a year cut short due to injury, Moore is as experienced an athlete as there is in college football. This year, every time he runs onto the practice field, the linebacker, and the rest of the Wolfpack, have one common goal — a championship.
Moore admitted that the team was in the middle of the “dog days” of fall camp right now, with the week-one matchup with East Carolina a little more than two weeks away. That is not affecting the effort and drive of the team.
“I think you’ve just got to understand what the end goal is,” Moore said. “The end goal is winning a championship. Whatever we need to do to get there, we have all bought in to do it.”
Moore is extremely familiar with training camp at NC State, but he still sees August as an opportunity to sharpen skills and become the best player possible headed into the season. There is a system in place to help the Wolfpack veterans avoid burnout, Moore said, but that does not stop them from putting in as much work as possible.

NC State quote of the day
This quote is from Wolfpack receiver Darryl Jones talking about wide receivers coach Joker Phillips, who he has known since they were both at Maryland.
“He’s been the same dude since I’ve known him, which is really cool,” Jones said.
“He’s a funny old dude. He’s old school. He knows what he’s talking about, but he’s just a straight-up dude. I can go in and talk to him about whatever. If I go in and ask him why I’m not getting this or playing this, he’s going to give me an answer.”
