On3 has updated its class of 2023 national basketball recruiting rankings, and NC State verbal commitment Robert Dillingham, a guard from Charlotte playing at Donda Academy in Simi Valley, Calif, is at No. 6 in the country.

In a strong point guard class, Dillingham also checked in at No. 3 nationally amongst players at his position.

The updated On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting sites — On3, ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports, has Dillingham at No. 4 nationally in the 2023 class, a five-star product and the No. 2 point guard among juniors in the country.

Dillingham had been No. 18 in On3’s previous rankings, but he earned a fifth star in the latest update.

“It’s the buckets,” On3 noted. “Dillingham has a microwave ability that has been unmatched, to this point, by any of his classmates. While the 6-foot-3 guard is an average athlete and has average size and length for a shooting guard, it is his craft and his confidence that allows him to get hot.

“Dillingham can manufacture space off the bounce and get his shot off with the slightest of room. He is a below-average defender. While it is all centered around skill, there is an electric nature to his game. He can get hot in the blink of an eye and his next shot is always the best shot. Dillingham will need strength, and with that may come more explosion.”

The Pit ad

Dillingham has been the subject of rumors that he could reclassify into the 2022 class.

Dillingham committed to NC State over finalists Kentucky, Kansas, LSU and Memphis after making official visits to each program.

The On3 NIL Valuation estimates Dillingham’s value at $123,000, 10th highest among high school basketball players.

The Charlotte native averaged 21.2 points, 4.9 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game at Combine Academy in Charlotte as a sophomore. He transferred in the fall to the newly established Donda Academy in Simi Valley, Calif.

Other players of note that are on the NC State recruiting board besides Dillingham that are ranked by On3 include forward Dennis Parker Jr. from Richmond (Va.) John Marshall High at No. 35, and center Brandon White from Winston-Salem, N.C., and Dillingham’s teammate at Donda, at No. 62.
