NC State will make its first trip outside of North Carolina this season as it visits Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon (3:30 p.m., Peacock) in South Bend, looking to earn its fifth win of the 2025 campaign.

This episode of The Wolfpacker Show previews the matchup between the Irish and Wolfpack as Blue and Gold’s Jack Soble joins to give his perspective on the tilt.

On this episode:

– Soble opened his guest appearance on the show by giving his overall takeaway from Notre Dame’s first five games. The Irish lost to Miami and Texas A&M to open the season before winning its most-recent three games over Purdue, Arkansas and Boise State. Soble also explained how Notre Dame has turned it around, mostly on defense.

– After the initial vibe check, the conversation turned towards redshirt freshman quarterback CJ Carr. The first-year starter has already thrown for 1,280 yards with 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions through his first five games. Soble talked about why the 6-foot-3, 210-pound signal-caller is special, even though he had to win a fall camp positon battle.

– While Carr is a big name in this matchup, he isn’t the headliner. Instead, that’s Notre Dame’s electric running back duo of Jeremyiah Love and Jadarian Price. Soble broke down what makes the combination so lethal on the field as the two have combined for 800 yards and 13 touchdowns so far this season.

– As Notre Dame’s offense is clicking on all cylinders, its defense has been up and down. First-year coordinator Chris Ash, a longtime friend of NC State coach Dave Doeren, has seemed to find something as the Irish have allied just 20 points in the past two games after giving up 94 in the first three weeks. Soble dives into that, and how Notre Dame leaned on star cornerback Leonard Moore in the process.

– Soble closed out his segment on the podcast by predicting what he thought Notre Dame needed to avoid being upset by NC State.

– After the guest appearance, Noah gave his score prediction for the clash at Notre Dame. NC State is currently a double-digit underdog, according to BetMGM. Will the Wolfpack cover that spread?
