Nebraska baseball's season ends in a 17-1 NCAA regional loss to Oklahoma

Nebraska baseball’s season came to a disappointing end Saturday, as the Huskers (33-29) fell 17-1 to Oklahoma (37-21) in the Stillwater Regional. With their season on the line, it was a brutal start for the Huskers from the opening pitch.
The Sooners jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, aided by three Nebraska errors. Trouble began immediately when the leadoff hitter grounded a routine ball back to pitcher Will Walsh, who couldn’t handle it. Shortstop Dylan Carey followed with another error, and third baseman Rhett Stokes capped the inning with a throwing error. Nebraska finished the day with five errors.
Oklahoma didn’t let up from there, piling up 18 hits and going 12-for-25 with runners on base. Walsh lasted just two innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits. Tucker Timmerman recorded only one out before giving way to Drew Christo, who covered 3.1 innings in relief.

The Husker offense remained cold, managing just six hits and batting .176 for the game. Their struggles with runners in scoring position continued, going just 1-for-15. Senior catcher Hogan Helligso and outfielder Riley Silva each had two hits, providing rare bright spots in an otherwise quiet lineup.
It was a difficult season to assess overall. While the Huskers endured a disappointing regular season, they rallied to win the Big Ten tournament. However, that momentum didn’t carry over to the NCAA Regional, where they bowed out after a lopsided loss.
