Nebraska made its ninth in-state offer Thursday to Omaha Westside athlete Teddy Rezac.

The 6-foot-3 1/2, 185-pound Rezac is listed as an athlete, but many project him to be an outside linebacker at the next level.

It was Rezac’s fourth Power Five offer as the Huskers join Notre Dame, Boston College and Missouri.

Was Nebraska too late with their offer, and did the Irish get a head start by coming in first?

“This came out of the blue completely,” Rezac told Blue & Gold of his Notre Dame offer last week after his offer from the Irish. “On that Monday, I don’t think I was on Notre Dame’s radar at all. I wasn’t followed by any of them [on social media]. I was obviously interested in them and wanted to pursue that, but I don’t think they knew who I was.”

Rezac lasted visited NU on Apr. 6 for a Husker spring practice. He’s now the fifth member of the 2022 Omaha Westside team to be offered by Nebraska.

Rezac joins 2023 NU signees Jaylen Lloyd (wide receiver) and Tristan Alvano (kicker), along with 2024 defensive back Caleb Benning and 2025 linebacker Christian Jones.

Rezac’s twin brother Anthony Rezac remains high on several D-I radars as an athlete/quarterback. Many teams are still waiting to see him throw live this spring.

2024 appears to be another deep in-state year in Nebraska

We saw Nebraska make 12 in-state offers in the class of 2023. The Big Red is now up to nine for the class of 2024.

Rezac joins Ainsworth tight end Carter Nelson, Bellevue West quarterback Daniel Kaelin (Missouri commit) and wide receivers Dae’vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris, Omaha Central offensive lineman Caleb Pyfrom, Elkhorn South defensive lineman Ashton Murphy (Nebraska commit), Papillion La Vista tight end Eric Ingwerson (Pitt commit) and Benning as 2024 in-state prospects with NU offers.

“We call Teddy, ‘Tough Teddy’ and he’s a tough kid. He’s a thumper,” Omaha Westside head coach Paul Limongi said during the In-State Tour event. “As a defensive player, he could play outside linebacker and safety. He played some corner as a sophomore. He just has a great nose for the ball and he likes contact. He really came into his own as a defensive player last year.

“Also, as a wide-out, he’s fast, he’s tall, can make the big catches and he’s an aggressive perimeter blocker as well.”

The second-team All-Metro selection had 47 solo tackles, 15 assisted tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and two interceptions. On offense, he had 32 catches for 414 yards and four touchdowns as a tight end.
