One of Notre Dame’s top recruiting targets is ready to shut his recruitment down. On Monday, 2024 four-star edge Bryce Young announced that he would reveal his commitment on Saturday at 4 p.m. EDT.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Young is coming off his fourth unofficial college recruiting visit to Notre Dame on Saturday. He attended the Blue-Gold Game with his father, former Irish standout and Pro Football Hall of Famer Bryant Young.

Bryce’s statement comes just hours after his teammate at Charlotte (N.C.) Christian, 2024 four-star wide receiver Micah Gilbert declared his commitment date, which will take place May 2 at 4 p.m. EDT. Gilbert visited Notre Dame for the first time last weekend.

Before Saturday, Bryce had visited Notre Dame for its junior day event on Jan. 14, the Stanford game on Oct. 15 and a summer camp session on June 12. On his first visit, he earned a scholarship offer from Irish defensive line coach Al Washington.

And during his most recent trip to campus, the Irish coaching staff reminded him they were the first school to offer, even though other schools have jumped in the mix after an excellent junior season.

“They wanted me to know that they’ve wanted me going back to that camp experience when they first offered me,” Young told Blue & Gold’s Mike Singer. “We were talking about the next steps and where we go with my timeline.”

Over the last 10 months, Young has racked up 14 Power Five scholarship offers and has visited Duke, Michigan, Southern California and Tennessee. He’s also been to Michigan State. However, the Spartans chose not to offer him a scholarship.

The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — evaluates Young as the No. 314 overall player, No. 21 EDGE and No. 10 prospect in North Carolina. He also carries an 89.96 rating.

On3’s own rankings list Young as the No. 236 player, the No. 22 player at his position and the No. 8 prospect from the Tar Heel State. On3 rates him at 91.

A glimpse at Notre Dame’s current recruiting class ahead of Bryce Young’s commitment date

So far, the Irish have secured 10 commitments in 2024. The class also features quarterback CJ Carr, running back Aneyas Williams, wide receiver Cam Williams, tight end Jack Larsen, offensive linemen Peter Jones and Anthonie Knapp, defensive linemen Cole Mullins and Owen Wafle and cornerbacks Karson Hobbs and Leonard Moore.

Notre Dame’s 2024 class currently features commitments from nine states. The Irish have also landed players from Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. Larsen attends Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic.
