Notre Dame learned where they stand for 2025 four-star quarterback Deuce Knight. On Friday, the 6-foot-4 ½, 180-pound Knight dropped a top 10 that included Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, TCU and Washington.

Knight, a sophomore at Lucedale (Miss.) George County High, reports 15 Power Five collegiate scholarship offers. Indiana, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State and Virginia Tech did not make it into his top 10 schools.

“The whole coaching staff is great people, and Notre Dame is a school where if you come every day focus on your goals,” Knight told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “I believe you can’t lose in life because of the top-notch academics and you’re playing football on a national stage.”

Irish quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli offered Knight on March 17 during Notre Dame’s Pot of Gold Day recruiting event. That same day, the Irish gave scholarships to 64 other 2025 recruits, including three quarterbacks.

In addition to Knight, Notre Dame has also offered Belleville (Mich.) High’s Bryce Underwood (6-3, 220 pounds), Nashville Brentwood Academy’s George MacIntyre (6-5 ½, 185), Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County’s Antwann Hill (6-4 ½, 205), Saraland (Ala.) High’s K.J. Lacey (6-1, 180) and Findlay (Ohio) High’s Ryan Montgomery (6-3, 210).

Each one of those passers is ranked within the On3 Industry Ranking’s — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — top 210 overall players and top 14 quarterbacks.

Knight is the No. 85 overall player, No. 6 quarterback and No. 3 prospect in Mississippi in 2025, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He has a 92.61 rating. In On3’s own rankings, Knight is the No. 28 overall player, No. 4 quarterback and No. 2 prospect in Mississippi, and he has a 94 rating.

As a sophomore, Knight completed 121-196 (61.7% passes) for 1,929 yards and 11 touchdowns in nine games. He threw four interceptions. Knight excelled on the ground, rushing 58 times for 488 yards and 12 touchdowns.

His On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $179,000. That ranks No. 64 among high school football recruits.

A look at where Notre Dame stands in Knight’s recruitment

Of the teams included in his top 10, Knight has reported unofficial visits to Ole Miss (4), Tennessee (3), Auburn, Notre Dame and South Carolina. He also went to Mississippi State this spring. However, the Bulldogs did not make his top 10.

Knight visited Notre Dame on April 1 and was courted by Guidugli throughout practice. That made a big impression on the high school sophomore passer.

“He’s a fun guy during the drills,” said Knight, describing Guidugli after last month’s Notre Dame visit. “You’ll see him throw with the quarterbacks and do drills with them. He even ran with them, too. He’s a fun coach. He’s not going to get mad and spaz out at you. He comes up to you and explains what you did wrong. I liked that.”

Guidugli and offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Gerad Parker visited Knight separately during the NCAA spring evaluation period.

Knight told Blue & Gold he wants to commit early to help recruit his class. A decision could come before his junior season.

Next month, he has unofficial visits scheduled to LSU and Tennessee. A return trip to Notre Dame is already in the works.

Notre Dame only has one 2025 recruit verbally committed in Miami Belen Jesuit Prep three-star defensive lineman Davion Dixon.
