One of Notre Dame football’s top recruiting targets in the 2025 cycle is set to come off the board in six days. On Wednesday, Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School offensive tackle Matty Augustine announced that he would reveal his college commitment on Feb 20.

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Augustine, a three-star prospect, also shared that he is down to five schools: Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. He reported 27 other offers to date, including ones from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and UCLA.

The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — considers Augustine the No. 353 overall player, No. 25 offensive tackle and No. 3 prospect in Connecticut in 2025.

Augustine’s announcement comes after visits to Notre Dame and Wisconsin last month. Those two programs are battling the hardest for his pledge.

The On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 2 offensive tackle in New England, Augustine, had been to South Bend four times previously as a recruit. He also visited for the Sept. 23 Ohio State game and the July 30 “grill & chill” end-of-summer recruiting event.

Augustine also competed in Notre Dame’s “lineman’s challenge” on June 3. There, offensive line coach Joe Rudolph offered him a scholarship. Augustine also visited on April 14 alongside his high school teammate, Ethan Long.

Long pledged to the Irish on Jan. 8 over offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin. The 6-2, 185-pounder is the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 32 safety and No. 4 prospect in Connecticut. Long lives with Augustine during the school year.

Notre Dame already has two offensive line commits in 2025

Augustine set his commitment date six days after 2025 four-star offensive tackle Owen Strebig declared to the Irish. The Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial junior attended Notre Dame’s Jan. 20 junior day, the last time Augustine was also on campus. The 6-7, 295-pound Strebig is the No. 125 overall player, No. 12 offensive tackle and No. 1 prospect in Wisconsin, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Strebig’s commitment last Thursday gave the Irish two offensive tackles in the class. On Dec. 21, the Irish landed Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall’s Will Black. Black — a 6-7, 285-pounder — is the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 318 overall player, No. 23 offensive tackle and No. 2 player in Connecticut. He is originally from Canada.

Notre Dame’s 2025 class has 13 other commits. It currently ranks No. 5 in the 2025 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings.
