Four-star 2024 safety Jacob Oden will be making his latest trip to South Bend sooner than expected.

On Thursday, the 6-1, 175-pound sophomore out of Harper Woods (Mich.) High — which is outside of Detroit — announced on Twitter that he will visit Notre Dame on April 9. His original visit was scheduled for the 21st of the month. The trip will be his third to see the Irish campus; he was last in South Bend on Oct. 2 for the Cincinnati game.

The sophomore will also be at Ohio State on Friday, although he does not hold an offer from the Buckeyes.

Oden has spoken highly of the Notre Dame campus and of Marcus Freeman, whom he has known since Freeman was at Cincinnati. He received his offer to play at Notre Dame at a camp last June, where he was coached by safeties coach Chris O’Leary.

According to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Oden is the No. 16 safety, No. 5 player from Michigan and No. 186 player nationally.

Despite only being a sophomore, Oden holds 17 Power Five offers. In addition to Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Tennessee are other notable offers Oden has. Surely additional opportunities are on the way.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan is the leader for the in-state product (95 percent). Notre Dame sits in the No. 2 spot at three percent. Given he’s from the Detroit area, it makes sense that Oden has visited Ann Arbor five times.

With around 1,500 social media followers, Oden’s On3 NIL Valuation is just over $6000. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Oden’s valuation has increased slightly over the last few weeks, and expect the metric to continue to rise as the class of 2024 begins to get additional recruiting attention.
