The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2022 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Kyion Grayes has signed with the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS — Kyion Grayes committed to Ohio State so he could be developed by Brian Hartline.

Let the development begin. Grayes officially signed with the Buckeyes on Wednesday as part of the December Signing Period.

What does that mean for the Buckeyes? Let’s break it all down.

Who is Kyion Grayes?

Kyion Grayes is a 6 foot, 175-pound wide receiver who committed to the Buckeyes on Feb. 28, 2021. His other top schools were UCLA and Arizona. He decommitted from Arizona in December 2020.

Hometown: Chandler, Arizona
High School: Chandler

The No. 104 overall player and No. 14 receiver in the country, according to the On3 consensus, Grayes now joins an already loaded room of wide receivers that might be losing its top two talents, but isn’t lacking for them moving forward.

Grayes is one of four wide receivers to sign with the Buckeyes this week, joining Kojo Antwi, Kaleb Brown and Caleb Burton, all top-200 overall players in the 2022 class.

They are all different in their skillsets, but similar in their reasoning for picking the Buckeyes: Hartline and his ability to develop wide receiver talent.

Even before his development with Hartline starts, Grayes has all the tools to be elite in his Ohio State class. That was evident at The Opening during the summer, when he turned heads.

How did Grayes end up at Ohio State?

After committing to Ohio State in February, Grayes cited Hartline as the primary reason for traveling all the way from Arizona to play his college football, especially when there are so many other options closer to home to choose from.

“[Brian Hartline] thinks I’m am going to develop into a great player,” Grayes said when he committed to Ohio State. “He always tells me that and that the culture at the school would fit me perfectly. I can see it.”

The fit can now begin. So can the development.

Kyion Grayes made it all official Wednesday.
