2025 Ohio State quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair set to compete in Elite 11 contest

Ohio State is no stranger to having its quarterback commits compete in the historic Elite 11 passing contest. This year is no exception as 2025 five-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair will throw in Sunday’s regional contest.

The winning of the regional contest earns a ticket to compete in the Elite 11 finals which takes place annually in Los Angeles.

St. Clair is the No. 13 overall prospect and the No. 4 quarterback in the On3 Industry Rankings. He committed to Ohio State in June 2023 and has been a major staple of the class, serving as a peer recruiter and a great voice for the program with his peers.

Former Ohio State quarterback commits to have thrown in the Elite 11 Finals in the past include Air Noland, Devin Brown, Quinn Ewers, Kyle McCord and CJ Stroud.

The Buckeyes have the No. 1 2025 class in the On3 Team Industry Rankings. Michigan isn’t even in the top 15.

Buckeyes, Diebler add another transfer weapon

Ohio State men’s basketball coach Jake Diebler is at it again in the transfer portal and is bolstering his first roster.

Micah Parrish is headed back to the Midwest and joining Ohio State for the 2024-25 season as a graduate transfer.

Parrish, a Detroit native, began his career at nearby Oakland, where he spent two years before transferring to San Diego State and helping the Aztecs reach the National Championship in 2023 and the Sweet 16 in 2024.

Now, he’s headed to Columbus as the third Ohio State transfer addition of the offseason. South Carolina star and one-time Buckeyes guard Meechie Johnson is back in the fold for next season, and former Kentucky center Aaron Bradshaw has hopped aboard the Jake Diebler train as well.

Ohio State has one scholarship remaining.

The 6-foot-6 Parrish averaged 9.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this past season at SDSU while shooting 39% from the field, including a career-low 29.2% from beyond the arc. After coming off the bench and chipping in 7.4 points per game during the Aztec’s national runner-up season, Parrish started all but one game in 2023-24.

Ranking Buckeyes defensive position groups by depth

Lettermen Row is taking what it learned throughout spring to rank the Ohio State position groups on defense by depth.

Following a big spring from some rising young players, the cornerbacks are the obvious choice for the deepest room.

This is, without a doubt, the deepest unit on the Ohio State defense. It’s also in the running for the top cornerback group in the country. Led by a senior Denzel Burke following a resurgent junior season, the Buckeyes cornerbacks put together another brilliant spring after finishing last year with the top pass defense in the sport. Burke and fellow returning starter Davison Igbinosun will be back as the best tandem of corners in the Big Ten, and they’re joined by the return of star nickel cornerback Jordan Hancock. All three have first-round potential next spring, and they’ll start as a dynamic trio this fall for the Buckeyes.

And the depth might be even more impressive than the top-of-the-depth-chart experience and talent. Beyond those top three, the Buckeyes are loaded with up-and-coming talents. Second-year cornerback Jermaine Mathews will be a factor after an impressive freshman campaign. He even took reps in the slot as a second-team nickel back behind Jordan Hancock — and we already know what he can do on the outside after seeing it last year. Second-year cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt arrived last summer and had a really solid spring, including an impressive spring game.
