COLUMBUS — Ohio State hosted an impressive number of visiting prospects inside Ohio Stadium for the Buckeyes’ annual spring game.

Lettermen Row is still working on the final total, but at least over three dozen recruits and their families made it to the Horseshoe for the fifteenth spring practice. Team Scarlet, the offense, beat Team Gray, the defense, 34-33 in a sunny and windy atmosphere.

Recruits were treated to seeing one of the best defensive units in the country showcase exactly why that’s the case. Linebacker CJ Hicks led the stat sheet with eight tackles. A bunch of defensive backs made plays on Saturday too. Calvin Simpson-Hunt, Jaylen McClain, Brenten ‘Inky’ Jones and Dianté Griffin all had interceptions. Cornerback Jermaine Mathews had an excellent pass breakup in coverage of Jeremiah Smith that likely would have been a touchdown if caught.

Everyone of course wanted to see the quarterbacks and the fans in the stands saw much of what the media has this spring. Head coach Ryan Day and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly rolled the quarterbacks throughout the warm afternoon. Will Howard, Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz, Julian Sayin and Air Noland, all five of the Buckeyes scholarship quarterbacks, showed good and bad moments.

The recruits in the ‘Shoe, however, are what we’re looking at. Top-rated 2026 prospect Jahkeem Stewart made his debut visit to Ohio State and it didn’t disappoint according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong. Several members from the Buckeyes’ top-rated 2025 class were present as two new prospects committed with tight end Nate Roberts and safety Cody Haddad.

Ohio State will still have a few visitors trickling in throughout the end of April before coaches hit the road in May. June will bring more recruits on campus with camps and official visits and then it all comes to a halt once the summer dead period starts.
