COLUMBUS — Ohio State added two members to its defensive class in 24 hours, so how about some offense?

Four-star Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic wide receiver De’Zie Jones has committed to the Buckeyes.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Garden State talent is the No. 312 overall prospect and the No. 44 wide receiver according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Jones spoke with On3’s Hayes Fawcett ahead of his commitment about why the Buckeyes won the race.

“What stands out to me is how much they develop their receivers and it proves over the years. They produce the best and I want to be next up, so learning from nice players will get me better. Also, they produce tons of DB talent, so going up against them every day will get me better. The culture over there is beautiful, can’t ask for better.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“I’m super tight with the coaching staff, but I’m closest with Hartline because that’s who will put me on the field, who I put in extra work with, watch film with, everything. So I try to be as close as possible. He told me to prove him right so he has faith in me being a great player so imma do just that.”

Ohio State recently had four-star Cocoa (Fla) wide receiver Jayvan Boggs decommit from the class.

The Buckeyes now have three offensive commits in their top-ranked 2025 class. Five-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair and four-star Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer offensive tackle Carter Lowe are now joined by Jones.

Four-star Port St. Lucie (Fla) Vero Beach linebacker TJ Alford and three-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban linebacker Eli Lee are the 2025 linebacker commits.

In the defensive trenches, four-star Philadelphia (Pa) Imhotep Institute EDGE Zahir Mathis and four-star Bradenton (Fla) IMG Academy EDGE London Merritt are in the class.

On the back end, the Buckeyes have a pair of five-star Plus+ cornerbacks committed in Na’eem Offord and Devin Sanchez. Four-star Baltimore (Md) St. Frances Academy cornerback Blake Woodby rounds things out for the defense.
