Mick Walker: Why I'm joining Lettermen Row and On3
COLUMBUS — Hello everyone, I am Mick Walker and I have joined On3 and Lettermen Row as an Ohio State recruiting reporter.
A few weeks prior to my first day at On3, I was asked to write a story about why I wanted to join On3 and the answer is rather simple. I want to be a part of building something special in the Ohio State market.
Growing up in Pataskala, Ohio, I have watched Ohio State football and basketball all of my life. As I got older, I started to follow both teams more and more. By the time I was 12, I was not only obsessed with Ohio State football and basketball, but also recruiting. After attending Ohio State and spending a short time with The Lantern, the student newspaper on campus, I developed a deeper appreciation for all of Ohio State athletics and the recruiting efforts that go into each respective sport.
At Lettermen Row, I plan to cover all those recruiting stories from the five-star wide receiver who signs with the Buckeyes on National Signing Day to the in-state legacy baseball prospect that signs with Ohio State to help head coach Bill Moisello turn the program around — and everything in between. I’ll cover every story with the same amount of intensity and passion because that’s what our Lettermen Row subscribers deserve.
My goal is for Lettermen Row to be the go-to website for all things Buckeyes recruiting and I know it is possible with the all-star staff that On3 has assembled. I have worked with Steve Wiltfong in the past and I can confidently say he is the best in the business. While I have never worked with Chad Simmons, his credentials speak for themselves and I am excited to be on the same team as him. Additionally, On3 and Lettermen Row already have two of the best Ohio State recruiting reporters in Matt Parker and Alex Gleitman. I have the utmost respect for both of them and can’t wait to work alongside them to build something special for Lettermen Row subscribers.
Lettermen Row also has three of the best team reporters on the Ohio State beat in Spencer Holbrook, Andy Backstrom and Tim May. All three of them do an outstanding job covering all things Ohio State athletics and their coverage a perfect complement to the recruiting coverage we plan to provide at Lettermen Row.
Thank you to Shannon Terry, one of the true pioneers in the recruiting industry, and the rest of the team at On3, for giving me the opportunity to do my dream job: cover Ohio State recruiting at the highest level. This is not an opportunity that I will take for granted.
