The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2024 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Air Noland has signed with the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS — Ohio State always manages to find a way throughout a recruiting cycle to land one quarterback, but then have something go array.

It’s at the quarterback position where the name Ohio State comes through, however. When one quarterback leaves, another finds his way.

Air Noland is that quarterback for the Buckeyes, and he made it official by signing his letter of intent. What does his addition mean for Ohio State? Lettermen Row breaks it down.

Who is Air Noland?

Prentiss “Air” Noland is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound four-star quarterback from Fairburn, Georgia. He spent his prep career at Langston Hughes High School and is one of the most prolific quarterbacks to come through the Peach State.

And the lefty is heading north.

Noland committed to Ohio State in April over several other potential suitors including Alabama, Texas A&M, Miami, Oregon, Clemson and others.

How did Noland end up at Ohio State?

At this time a year ago, the quarterback situation for the 2024 cycle was, well, interesting.

Dylan Raiola decommitted a few days before signing day for the 2023 cycle. But the Buckeyes were quick to the punch. A combination of head coach Ryan Day and quarterback coach Corey Dennis started the recruiting pitch in January.

The Buckeyes coaching staff had seen plenty of Noland on tape as he and current Ohio State tight end Jelani Thurman were high school teammates. But there still needed to be an evaluation. The relationship had to be built.

Noland made his first visit to Ohio State at the end of March. A number of prospects were there that ended up being in the class including the Armstrong twins, James Peoples and Mylan Graham.

That visit opened Noland’s eyes to everything that Ohio State was, is and can be.
“They stood at the top of my list once I saw how serious they were about me and serious they were recruiting me before they even offered me,” Noland told On3. “Coming in, I kind of expected the offer. It was more about if Ohio State was the perfect fit for me. They showed me all aspects of why they were the perfect fit for me.”
