There is one week left of the 2023 regular season in college football, although it feels like Ole Miss played Mercer a week ago.

Anyway, the Rebels knocked off ULM on Saturday to close out their home schedule a perfect 7-0 record for the second time in three seasons. Taking care of business at home has become the norm under fourth-year head coach Lane Kiffin, minus two games last season.

Ole Miss did what it needed to do after the blowout loss at Georgia a week ago, getting the victory and moving on to nine wins with the chance to have a second 10-win regular season with a win over Mississippi State on Thursday.

Despite the victory there was not much change ahead of the Rebels this weekend, making the polls very status quo relative to last week’s. Though Ole Miss did move up in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls.

The Rebels jumped up one spot to No. 12 in the AP Poll and two spots to No. 12 in the Coaches Poll on Sunday.

A shot at a New Year’s Six bowl relies on how Missouri does and the Tigers survived an upset on Saturday thanks to a late field goal to beat Florida by two and stayed two spots ahead of the Rebels in the polls at No. 10.

The College Football Playoff Rankings had Missouri at No. 9 last Tuesday and Ole Miss at No. 13, which is the only Top 25 that matters moving forward. Currently The Tigers are on a path to a NY6 bowl and the Rebels all but assuredly heading to Orlando and the Citrus Bowl as things stand heading into the final weekend.

Missouri plays at Arkansas on Friday and Ole Miss will have already completed its 12-game slate the night before in Starkville and a win is needed to keep pace with a potential trip to either the Peach or Cotton Bowls.
