Oregon Ducks Prepare for MAJOR Recruiting Weekend with Several 5-Stars on Campus | Inside Scoop

Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus is heading to the NFL. On Saturday, the defensive lineman was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the 109th pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Deerfield Beach, Florida native played five seasons with the Ducks, with the 2023 season likely his best year as he logged a team-high five sacks. He finished his Oregon career playing in 57 total games and logging 106 total tackles, 27 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. He also defended 13 passes and forced 1 fumble.

Dorlus earned Associated Press All-Pac-12 first-team and Pro Football Focus All-Pac-12 first-team honors for the 2023 season after establishing himself as one of the best defensive linemen out West. During his college career he was praised for his athleticism and versatility, which allowed him to move all over the defensive line under Joe Salave’a and Tony Tuioti.

“It’s been a journey. It’s been tough,” Dorlus said as he reflected on his Oregon career at the school’s Pro Day. ” I came in, three-star (recruit) one of the lowest-rated kids, so I had a chip on my shoulder. I feel like I had a lot to prove to these kids, four-stars, five-stars, the best on their teams. Surrounding myself with dudes who were already good like that, I feel like they brought the best out of me. I feel like this is the best choice of my life to come here.”

Dorlus continues Oregon’s long line of defensive linemen to reach the NFL level after former Duck Jordon Riley was selected with the 244th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Florida product will hope to continue a strong legacy at the position that’s been shaped more recently by NFL standouts DeForest Buckner (Indianapolis Colts) and Arik Armstead (Jacksonville Jaguars).

As a recruit

Dorlus was a three-star recruit out of Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School that signed with Oregon in the class of 2019.

He was one of seven defensive linemen that Oregon signed in a cycle that also included Kayvon Thibodeaux, Mase Funa and Treven Ma’ae. He was one of four defensive linemen that would ultimately end up playing all of his college football at Oregon.
