Oregon Ducks Prepare for MAJOR Recruiting Weekend with Several 5-Stars on Campus | Inside Scoop

Oregon Ducks wide receiver Troy Franklin is officially off the board. On Saturday, the Denver Broncos selected Franklin with the 102nd pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Franklin is the third former Oregon player selected in this year’s draft. He reunites with former Duck quarterback Bo Nix in Denver, who was selected with the twelfth overall pick in the first round.

Viewed by some as the best wide receiver in Oregon program history, Franklin had a fantastic junior season with the Ducks, catching 81 passes for 1,383 receiving yards (team high) and 14 touchdowns in 2023. He set single-season program records in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and 100-yard receiving games (8).

Franklin leaves Eugene with his head held high and with the belief that he was the best to play the position at Oregon.

“I think my stats show that,” he said at UO’s Pro Day last month. “The plays I’ve made and just everything I’ve done for the program.”

The East Palo Alto, California native wrapped up his three-year Oregon career by becoming the program leader in receiving touchdowns (25) and tying the lead for 100-yard games (11). His final season with the Ducks earned him 2023 Associated Press All-Pac-12 first team and All-America second-team honors.

The former Duck was also a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the top wide receiver in college football. Franklin is the first Oregon Ducks wide receiver selected in the NFL Draft since Dillon Mitchell was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 239th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

As a recruit

Franklin signed with Oregon as a four-star recruit from Menlo-Atherton High School in the 2021 class. He was ranked the No. 61 player nationally, the No. 9 wide receiver and the No. 5 recruit in California according to the On3 Rankings. He committed to Oregon from a group of top schools that also featured the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Washington Huskies, the USC Trojans, the Arizona State Sun Devils, and the LSU Tigers.

The Bay Area product was one of three wide receivers the Ducks signed in 2021 along with Dont’e Thornton and Isaiah Brevard under former coach Bryan McClendon.
