The Oregon Ducks held their spring game in Eugene on Saturday and it was a balanced game that featured standout plays from both sides of the ball. It was also the first time Oklahoma transfer quarterback Dillon Gabriel played in front of fans in Eugene.

Gabriel completed 14 of his 21 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked two times.

The veteran quarterback met with reporters in Eugene following Saturday’s spring game. Below you can find some of his notable quotes as well as full video of his media availability.

On how he thought the spring game went:

“It went. There’s ups and downs, ebbs and flows of spring ball. I think the biggest thing was just getting out there and having a lot of fun. Autzen’s special. Being able to experience it with the guys and the coaches and just the work that came up to this point. I think it was special and I had a lot of fun.”

On what he liked about his performance and wants to improve on:

“I loved how aggressive we were. At times I think that also is where we struggled just trying to find ways to complete deep balls. We settled in and the guys made some plays so I’m happy about that.”

On where he feels the team got better during spring practice:

“I think just having a good grasp of what we’re trying to accomplish offensively. As a team I just think the connection piece is huge in the spring and that’s where I think the biggest growth has been made is this month, kind of the start of spring ball. Everyone’s been a lot more comfortable. Of course you see that there’s guys thinking, but I think once we’re able to prepare and really get kind of all that offensive scheme down, then we can just play.”

On how it felt playing at Autzen:

“Amazing. Just running out of that tunnel never gets old. Especially doing it here, I’m very blessed to be in this spot and this position. What makes it even more special is the guys.”

On the areas of his game he wants to focus on between now and the start of the season:

“Just as many reps as I can get. Whether it’s a walkthrough, in meetings, or even extra time alone I think with my timeframe I think that’s what I’m gonna do is just try and get as many reps as I can, keep growing, keep improving and bringing others with me.”

On what he saw from the rest of the quarterbacks:

“A lot of good. Just seeing them throughout the spring and then us just helping each other out. It’s been a huge joy to be around them, Dante, Austin, Ryder, Brock. We just had a lot of fun and just having those guys around me helps me as well.”

On his perspective of the running back room:

“Amazing, running hard. Everyone who got in there I think you were able to see how tough they were able to run and Noah’s just waiting his time to get healthy and all that. I think you see how talented that room is and I think talent won’t be our issue it’s definitely gonna just be coming together and everyone knowing their job.”
