On Monday, the preseason iteration of the USA Today Coaches Poll was released ahead of the 2023 college football season.

The Oregon Ducks were one of five Pac-12 teams that made the cut.

The Ducks, who are coming off a 10-3 finish in 2022, landed at No. 15. They received 820 points.

USC (No. 6), Washington (No. 11), Utah (No. 14), and Oregon State (No. 18) also landed inside the top 25 ahead of what figures to be one of the more competitive seasons in the history of the conference.

The Ducks are set the kick off their second week of fall camp in Eugene Monday afternoon ahead of their Sept. 2 season-opener with Portland State at Autzen Stadium.

After an offseason in which it overhauled the roster through the transfer portal, Oregon is expected to be in contention for a Pac-12 title. The Ducks return quarterback Bo Nix, receiver Troy Franklin, and running back Bucky Irving on offense and added receivers Traeshon Holden (Alabama) and Tez Johnson (Troy) via the portal.

On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end Brandon Dorlus, linebacker Jeffrey Bassa, and cornerback Trikweze Bridges are all back after strong 2022 campaigns. Additionally, Oregon added Jordan Burch (South Carolina), Evan Williams (Fresno State), and Khyree Jackson (Alabama) via the portal.

“We have over 50 new guys in our program that really fit what we do,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said at the program’s media day last week. “I think they’ll create some schematic advantages for us. They create some great matchups for us that we can take advantage of. It’s no secret our theme this offseason has been good to great. And we all know that good is the enemy of great and we’re trying to fight complacency every day, trying to make sure that we never stay satisfied.”
