Another day, preseason honor for Oregon star linebacker Noah Sewell.

On Monday, the Maxwell Football Club announced the 90-player watch list for the 28th Chuck Bednarik Award. The award is given annually to the top defensive player in the nation.

Among the 90 candidates is Oregon sophomore linebacker Noah Sewell.

Sewell is one of five Pac-12 players who cracked the list. Oregon State linebacker Omar Speights, Stanford defensive back Kyu Blu Kelly, USC defensive tackle Tuli Tuipulotu, Washington defensive end Zion Tupuola-Fetui, and Washington defensive end Ron Stone also cracked the list.

An Oregon player has never won the award. The last Bednarik Award winner from a Pac-12 school was Scooby Wright III in 2014.

Earlier this month, Sewell also landed on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watch list. He has been named a preseason All-American by multiple publications and was tabbed as a preseason all-Pac-12 pick by the reporters who cover the conference.

In 2021, Sewell was a first-team all-conference selection while racking up a team-high 106 tackles. He was also second among Oregon players with 8.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.
