In the 2023 recruiting cycle, Dan Lanning made a splash in the transfer portal once again. The Ducks signed 10 transfers in 2023. And until this week, only one of those transfers had yet to enroll at Oregon.

That changed this weekend.

Oregon will resume Spring football practices tomorrow, Tuesday April 4. And a new face will join the secondary.

Former Ole Miss safety transfer Tysheem Johnson will join the Ducks in the secondary. Johnson was viewed as a big get for Oregon with a major need at the safety position. Johnson committed to Oregon on January 25 and signed on national signing day.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound safety recorded 78 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 passes defended this year for the Rebels. Johnson also earned freshman All-SEC honors during his 2021 season, after racking up 47 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 interception.

From a couple weeks ago, we posted an update regarding which signees would be enrolling at Oregon when Spring ball re-started. Johnson is expected to be 1 of 6 new faces with the team this week.
