All preseason long, Oregon’s Noah Sewell has been touted as one of the top linebackers in the country ahead of the 2022 season. On Monday, the Ducks’ star sophomore received yet another accolade.

The Associated Press released its preseason All-American teams on Monday morning, and Sewell is one of three linebackers who received first-team honors.

A third-year sophomore who garnered first-team all-conference honors last season, Sewell tallied a team-high 114 tackles in 2021 while also adding career-highs of 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. He is the lone Duck to land on the AP’s first or second team, and one of just three Pac-12 players who cracked the first team.

Sewell has also been tabbed as a preseason All-American by Walter Camp, Sporting News, Phil Steele, and Athlon. Additionally, he has been named to the watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Chuck Bednarik Award.

Last season, Oregon edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux was a unanimous All-American selection, while safety Verone McKinley III was a consensus All-American.
