Justin Flowe spoke with reporters for the first time in nearly a year on Wednesday and detailed the difficult process of working his way back from his second season-ending injury in as many years.

In Oregon’s Week 1 win over Fresno State last season, Flowe was a one-man wrecking crew. He tallied 14 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and a forced fumble to help the Ducks escape with a win, and received Pac-12 freshman of the week honors as a result.

But during that game, he suffered a foot injury that ultimately ended his season. That came after he suffered a torn meniscus at the start of the 2020 season.

As a result, Flowe, the second-highest-ranked recruit to ever sign with Oregon, has played just two games in two seasons in Eugene. He resumed football activities during spring ball and is generating some NFL Draft buzz ahead of the upcoming season.

On Wednesday, he spoke about the injuries, and the difficulties they have presented in the previous months.

Flowe also delivered an optimistic outlook. He is fully healthy now and is focused on what’s ahead, not what’s in the past.

“It really made me sit back and just see everything with a different perspective,” Flowe said. “I felt like my whole life I’ve always tried to be great. … To sit back and watch my team play and everything, it really, really humbled me. I thank God for that because it made me want it more.

“It made me want to be around my team more. It made me want to play linebacker more. It made me want to make more plays. I just thank God for doing that for me. Because when I get back on that field, I’m going to give it all I’ve got because I want this so much.”
