It’s time to dive into Wednesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with basketball. A second member of the Penn State Class of 2023 has asked to be released from his National Letter of Intent in the wake of Micah Shrewsberry’s departure to Notre Dame. It is Logan Imes. The three-star Zionsville, Ind., guard will still consider the Lions, according to Kyle Neddenreip of the Indianapolis Star, who first reported the news.

“Still open to Penn State once new staff in place if there is interest,” Neddenreip wrote. “Also has great relationship with Micah Shrewsberry so Notre Dame is among options.”

Imes is the second member of his class to go that route. The first was Carey Booth last week.

In other news, Penn State opened a portion of its seventh spring practice to reporters on Tuesday night. After it, James Franklin, Manny Diaz, and a handful of reporters met the media.

The defense is working well, according to Franklin, who added that he wants to see more aggression and decisiveness out of his young players moving forward. Diaz believes his unit is moving in the right direction to replace many key pieces. And, the players who spoke were all positive about where things stand at the halfway mark.

“Overall, we still got a ton of work to do before the spring game,” Franklin said. “I do think we’ve done a good job of laying a foundation in terms of what we’re going to do in fall camp. But, we still got a lot of work to do.”

Quote of the day

“During my [January] visit, I actually mentioned it to them that I wanted to commit, but I was with my [assistant] coach. Franklin said that he wanted me to think about it and make sure this is really what I wanted. He also said he wanted my family to be with me when that happened, too. So, I did go home to think about it, but my decision wasn’t really going to change. At the end of [last weekend’s] visit then, I just explained to him how much I love the school. I also see the people he develops every year. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. It was great having him honor my commitment.”
