Penn State hosted several prospects from the Detroit area for its final Junior Day of January on Saturday. The Nittany Lions offered a pair of visitors from the Motor City before they left town.

Penn State offers potential five-star quarterback

Leading the way was Class of 2025 quarterback Bryce Underwood, who is the top sophomore quarterback in the country according to the early On3 Consensus rankings. The Belleville (Mich.) product is the No. 4 prospect in the 2025 cycle and the top prospect in Michigan. He’s a potential five-star in the Class of 2025.

Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State are among the early offers for Underwood, who was named the Michigan Associated Press Division 1-2 Player of the Year as a freshman in 2021. That year he threw for 2,888 yards and 39 touchdowns in his first year as a starter. He led Belleville to a perfect 14-0 record in 2022 and threw another 37 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Through two seasons, Underwood has thrown for 5,639 yards and he’s been invited to play in the 2025 All-American Bowl already. Underwood took in games at Michigan and Michigan State this season, he told On3’s Chad Simmons last weekend. He’ll visit LSU in March as well.

Nittany Lions offer four-star linebacker

Penn State offered Underwood’s teammate at Belleville, Class of 2024 linebacker Jeremiah Beasley, at Junior Day on Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound prospect put out a top five at the end of 2022 that included Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Tennessee. Cincinnati, Minnesota, Nebraska and others have offered as well.

Beasley is a four-star prospect according to On3 and the On3 Consensus. He’s the No. 250 overall prospect nationally and the No. 24 linebacker in the country in the Class of 2024 according to the Consensus rankings. He’s also the No. 6 prospect in Michigan in the next cycle.

Penn State also offered Oakdale (Conn.) St. Thomas More 2024 wide receiver Sage Clawges on Saturday, but Clawges was on campus this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound junior prospect, who is originally from the Morgantown, West Virginia area, visited for Junior Day last weekend.
