Time for our weekly Penn State recruiting update presented by our friend Andy Luedecke at MyPerfectFranchise. Andy is a huge college sports fan and franchise veteran, having owned multiple franchises and businesses. Using his expertise, he helps others find their American Dream through a very thorough consultation and evaluation process.

Now that the 2022 regular season has ended, the transfer portal is already filling up with names and players looking to find a new home next year. Today on the BWI Daily Edition: Recruiting insiders, Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz discuss the names you need to know. Subscribe to the BWI Daily Edition on YouTube, so you don’t miss the show!

Penn State could be perfect fit for portal receiver

While the constant stream of names heading into the portal can be overwhelming at times, some stick out more than others. To start the show, Snyder and Fitz discuss Oregon wide receiver, Dont’e Thornton. Not only is receiver a position of need, but Thornton has a long and clear history with the Nittany Lions. So will Penn State go after him? The duo discusses that and recaps his history with the coaching staff for unaware people.

Next, they list the team’s positions to address this offseason, including the receiver. While running back and receiver are known, they list one other position that you may not think about as a top portal need.

After finishing up their view of the transfer portal, they shift to looking at the weekend in Penn State recruiting. It was a better list than Snyder anticipated and included a pivotal visit from four-star receiver Rodney Gallagher. So how did things go with the long-time in-state target? Snyder and Fitz recap the situation with Gallagher and his commitment to West Virginia.

Penn State recruiting news

There were a handful of offers and official visits that made the news this weekend as well. So Fitz and Snyder recap the names and dates that are important to know in the coming weeks. They also update the recruiting battle for four-star corner Daniel Harris. The Nittany Lions are in a tight-locked competition with Georgia for the high-profile player, but things are coming down to the wire. Finally, they discuss where Penn State stands.

Lastly, they look at the recruiting visitor list in detail and pick out players that they think were standout players in the Class of 2023 and beyond.
