Penn State target Braeden Marshall interview

Before getting to the offensive hot boards, T-Frank starts with an article that Snyder wrote on Friday featuring Florida cornerback Braeden Marshall. First, Snyder fills T-Frank in on his conversation with Marshall and how Marshall fits in Penn State’s system. Next, they discuss the recruiting situation in Florida with the resurgence of Miami and Florida. Will Penn State still be able to mine the state for talent? Finally, Snyder gives his thoughts on the two new coaching groups and what he thinks in the Sunshine State.

After that, T-Frank dives right into the running back hot board. First, Snyder and T-Frank discuss Penn State’s clear top two targets, London Montgomery and Treyaun Webb. How has Montgomery’s recruitment gone since getting an offer in March? How is Penn State faring with Webb? T-Frank also wants to know if this is a trouble spot for the Lions with a thinner list of candidates. Snyder gives his thoughts.

Explaining Hot Boards

After wrapping up running backs, T-Frank pauses to have Snyder explain the hot boards for viewers and listeners new to Blue White Illustrated. Snyder explains and gives examples of what they are and how they change over time.

From there, they dive into the receiver group. The clear top target on the board is Pennsylvania native Rodney Gallagher. But, are the Nittany Lions in danger of losing Gallagher? Snyder explains how his thoughts have evolved on the Laurel Highlands recruit. Finally, T-Frank compares Gallagher to a player from the Penn State Class of 2022 in terms of his importance to the structure of the class.

Next is the offensive line, where T-Frank wants to know more about Georgia offensive tackle Zech Owens. How has he changed what Penn State might do at this position, and where does he rank for offensive line coach Phil Trautwein? Snyder explains what has happened to the board since Owens took an unofficial visit to Happy Valley last month.

Finally, they discuss defensive tackle Will Norman. The four-star recruit from IMG put Penn State in his top five schools this week, and Snyder breaks down where things stand. T-Frank then asks Snyder to look at the broader picture of the defensive line class in ’23. Can Penn State land a difference-maker? They discuss how this group might be confused with players and prospects from years past.
