Penn State brought in hundreds of prospects last month to Happy Valley. On today’s BWI Daily Recruiting show, insiders Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz discuss some under-the-radar players that fans need to know more about. This group hasn’t entirely entered the fan lexicon, but both insiders think they should.

Penn State is a real option for Blake Frazier

The talk around Michigan legacy and top offensive tackle prospect Blake Frazier is that he’s a slam-dunk to be a Wolverine. Not so fast, says Snyder,

“You know, one thing that I’ve been told now from multiple people was that the family is not pushing Michigan nearly as much as I think the media believes that they are. So that’ll, of course, play out with time. Let’s see where more of these visits go. But he’s a very important prospect for Phil Trautwein.

I think this is going to be a big offensive line class. We could see five-plus guys in this class if it all falls the way they want it to go. Right now, Blake Frazier is somebody I can see them waiting for,” Snyder said.

Frazier is the 157th player in the nation in the On3 rankings for 2024 and the 14th overall tackle prospect.

Chanz Wiggins may be a Marques Hagans favorite

It’s still too early to tell what new receivers coach Marques Hagans will do with his position, but he has a prior relationship with Virginia native Chanz Wiggins. The 6-2.5, 200-pound receiver is currently a Penn State lean in the RPM system.

“Yeah, I think you’re lumping him and Kellen Adams together. You know, I think Adams is a little bit higher in terms of what he’s been able to do on film so far. But Wiggins, there’s a lot to like there, too. And as you mentioned, great size with 4.0 GPA,” Fitz said on the show.

Snyder thinks it will be a big offensive line class

William Satterwhite is a familiar name that comes up on the Recruiting Show. Still, Snyder is including him because of the strong relationship he’s seeing between Penn State and the player.

So William Satterwhite is where we’re going to finish this up for our top seven or so guys. I put in a pick for William last week. I think he’s more of an interior guy than a true tackle. But we’ll see how, of course, he grows.

I put a pick in because, from what I’ve gathered, it seems like the family is firmly in Penn State’s corner here. Now, of course, I think more visits are going to come. So from that perspective, you can argue that maybe it’s a tiny bit too early. But I wanted to see how that Alabama offer impacted him. Right now, I think Penn State’s firmly the team to beat here. He’s very high on Penn State’s board. And again, sounds like mom really likes the idea of him playing for James Franklin.”

Satterwhite is a four-star offensive tackle and is the 276th player in the nation, according to the On3 player rankings. Check out his initial scouting report from this weekend.
